Historic Rugby hosts a free game of Irish road bowling right down the middle of lightly traveled Rugby Parkway. Teams form as the game starts, depending on who shows up, and all ages are welcome. Play, or just watch as the game heads west and then back east. It takes about an hour.
The game starts at or near the Historic Rugby Print Shop. Players toss an iron ball down the road, and whoever yells “CAR!” clears the pavement when one comes along. The team that makes it back to the finish in the fewest throws is crowned that day’s champion.
Winners get their picture on Historic Rugby’s Facebook page, holding a sooty trophy that survived the 2020 Harrow Road Cafe fire.
